About Us

It's often said that "necessity is the mother of invention."

Jerry Schlaf, a mechanical engineer and inventor of the WheelsUp Wheelchair Lift, developed the product to help a couple of friends who were having considerable difficulty loading and unloading wheelchairs from their cars. Much lighter than the heavy power chairs, manual wheelchairs still can weigh 35 pounds or more. Unfortunately, the wheelchair lifts available today are mainly for power chairs and way too expensive.

After months of design and prototyping, Jerry created the WheelsUp Wheelchair Lift, a simple, inexpensive solution and the only one of its kind. His friends were thrilled with the device! Meanwhile, Jerry applied for a U.S. patent and began production in Wolverine Lake, Michigan.

The WheelsUp Wheelchair Lift is sold throughout the world on-line. If you are interested in becoming a distributor, please contact us.
